TenerifeAirportCarRental.com offers competitive car rental service and rates at Tenerife Airport and Spain.
Tenerife has two airports: Tenerife North Airport is less well known and a lot less used by foreign travelers. Most non-Spanish tourists arrive and leave Tenerife via Tenerife South Airport. Tenerife North Airport, formerly Los Rodeos Airport, is one of the two international airports. It is located 11 kilometers by road from Santa Cruz. Both departures and arrivals are dealt with on the ground floor of Tenerife North airport and there is a large number of check in desks for both International and Inter Island passengers. Today, the airport is an inter-island hub, connecting all seven Canary Islands, and offers connections to the Spanish Peninsula, Europe, and, starting in 2009, North America. The route between Tenerife North and Gran Canaria is the airport’s busiest with an average of 40 flights per day. In 2007, the airport handled 4,125,131 passengers and 65,843 aircraft movements. The busiest air route from the airport in terms of passengers is the one to Madrid Airport, at over one million passengers a year. Tenerife South Airport, previously known as Tenerife South-Reina Sofia Airport, is second international airport located on the island of Tenerife. The airport is located in the municipality of Granadilla de Abona and was inaugurated on November 6, 1978, by Queen Sofía of Spain, after whom the airport is dedicated. In 2008, the airport handled 8,252,017 passengers and 60,779 aircraft movements. Tenerife South Airport is also different from a number of the Airports that are on the Spanish mainland in that its visitor numbers actually go up over the winter period when the weather in Tenerife is the best on offer in Europe. Unlike most other Airports in Spain, Tenerife gets busier in the winter months as Northern European tourists flock here to take advantage of the warm, winter Tenerife weather. In both airports you have a car rental service. If you plan to go sightseeing around the island, renting a car is probably the best option, because you can save time and money.
